The Art of Cocktail Decoration

When we talk about cocktails or mocktails, the final result depends not only on the ingredients used and their proper blending but also on the decoration. The meticulousness of cocktail decoration significantly contributes to the elegance of the drinks.

Fresh Ingredients

Concerning the ingredients for cocktail/mocktail decoration, fresh fruits play a vital role. The importance of freshness cannot be emphasized enough, as the flavour and visual appeal depend on it. It’s advisable to choose fruits the color and taste of which complement the created concoction. Depending on the type of fruit, you can slice, halve, or even skewer these crisp, flavorful bites. Citrus fruits are universally applicable to most cocktails. Lemon is an ideal choice not only for tequila-based cocktails, but virtually for any cocktail type. Beyond the zesty lemon juice, consider utilizing its tangy zest for cocktail decoration, perhaps in spiral shapes. Lime and orange are also excellent choices. The latter is more recommended for cocktails desiring a slightly sweeter companion.

Rim Decoration

Bolero Art of Cocktail DecorationRim decoration works exceptionally well with cocktails that match the flavor profile of lemon, salt, or sweetness. All you need to do is moisten the rim of the cocktail glass with lemon juice, then dip it into sugar or powdered sweetener (or even Bolero!) or salt. You can serve cocktails in these glasses immediately, or if you want the rim decoration to set a bit, chill the glasses in the fridge for a short time. For those who love sweet flavors, dense fruit juice or syrups commonly used in cocktails are recommended instead of lemon juice. Chopped nuts or striking coconut flakes also offer additional possibilities.

Ornaments

Many of us often think of the little paper umbrella frequently used in decorations. This is an excellent example that for perfecting creations, we can confidently use inedible accessories that enhance the aesthetics. While we often consume herbs in our dishes, they are primarily chosen for cocktails for their spectacular colors and scents. Of course, cocktail decorations wouldn’t be complete without straws. Nowadays, the selection is incredibly broad, and besides traditional straws, you can choose from extremely unique pieces with figurines and other decorations.
