Well, there are as many methods, tricks and tips, and diets to lose weight as the stars in the sky, but it is not all the same which way you choose to follow. It’s not enough to mechanically follow some pre-written rules, but you have to think and do it in a smart way.
Counting calories does not always work
If you take it as a basic pillar of your diet, you may fail. The problem with this method is that you may consume the proper amount of energy, but its’ quality will not be staisfactory. E.g. it is not all the same if you secure your daily energy ingestion with 3 bars of chocolate or with mixed nutriment (meat, vegetables, cereals, fruits). To maintain a healthy metabolism, you need a satisfactory nutrient supply.
Choose a type of movement you like
Well, if you choose a sport that you hate doing, it will not bring you a good result. You will not feel like doing it and will always find some excuses to „postpone” your training and finally not to do anything. Or – if you do it – you will suffer. It is important to be pleased while you are doing sports, as it gives you motivation and strengths to do the excercises. Choose something you like, even if it is not a hard training, e.g. a yoga class, swimming, a hike. It may bring results slower, but at least you will do it regularly and that will help transform your metabolism and body.
A seemingly contradictory advice: work harder, but have rest too
It is important to find the balance. You have to avoid extremes, like overloading your body with an extremely tough training series, or choose to have a little rest all the time instead of doing some sports. You also need to listen to your inner voice and if a thought crosses your mind that you could bear more, well, then work a little harder. At the same time, don’t forget about having enough rest. Both during the training session (your muscles need a short rest between excercises) and also in terms of night sleep (8 hours is required to secure a healthy metabolism).
Be persistent and diligent
Many people make a mistake by giving up too early. Remember that your body needs months to properly change your metabolism and adapt to your new lifestyle. There are also some periods when temporarily your body weight will stagnate – in cases like this, don’t be desperate, but be patient and you will see that sooner or later slimming will continue. „Good things come to those who wait.”
Don’t believe misbeliefs
There are many misbeliefs that some people use as excuses to provisionally suspend their diets. E.g. as dark chocolate is bitter, you can eat as much as you want, as it does not fatten you. False! Or: if you eat while you are standing, you can eat more, it will still make you slim. False! Or: if you eat the left-overs of your kids’ meals, that does not count. False! Just think these over and you’ll realize that following advices like these would only hinder you in losing weight.
Keep up the good work and good luck! 🙂
