The devil is in the detail

Sometimes it may happen that you are keeping all the rules of your slimming diet, you do your regular workout, but still, you don’t have that groundbreaking result you wished for. Here are a couple of easy-to-follow tips, which may make your diet more effective. Remember: you have to pay attention to these type of small details as well to become successful, as the devil is in the detail.

Don’t starve

If you get too hungry, you will make bad decisions: you buy more food, you will eat more and you will not pay attention to eat something that fits your diet. Planning meals for the day, including snacks, helps a lot avoid intense hunger. Also, make sure you do not skip meals. Stay on plan, eat when the time comes.

Start with soup

If you eat a vegetable soup before lunch and dinner, you will eat less at the meal, so it it also a useful trick to reduce calories and lose weight. On top, you will not feel hungry. Make sure it is a low-calorie soup and does not contain cereals, only vegetables. (Preferably meat neither, especially if you eat meat for the meal. See what to eat and when in our previous articles.).

Use less salt

Many people are not aware of the fact that salt can result in weight gain and bloating. The reason for this is that our body withdraw moisture from our cells to cover the salt molecules and it ends up in retaining water.  Salt can also make you feel hungrier and thirstier, which ends up in eating and drinking more. So check the nutrition labels and reduce your sodium intake.

Eat slowly

Those who finish their meals quickly usually weigh more than those who take their time. The reason for this is that it takes 20 minutes for your stomach to send a message to your brain that you have eaten enough. If you rush your meal, you will not feel the fullness yet and it’s easier to overeat. Make sure you have a relaxing atmosphere while eating, you can concentrate on your food and chew each bite thoroughly.

Outwit your hunger hormone

Hunger is a very strong feeling, so if you feel hungry, it is hard to resist temptation to eat more. We all have a hormone responsible for hunger control and appetite, called ghrelin. You have to control and outwit this hormone if you would like to be successful with your diet. The best way to do so is to eat regularly (every 3-4 hours) and eat small portions. Also, make sure you include some little portions of carbs (useful ones! See our previous articles). This way you can avoid ghrelin spike, pressing hunger and longing for sugar.

Good luck! 🙂
